Artist R. Mike Nichols, of Riverside, California has ranked in the top ten in a nationwide-art competition. The “Show Us Your America” contest features twenty finalists, ten of the finalists submitted paintings. Nichols’ work is a painting inspired by a photograph he took two years ago.
Nichols is currently in fourth place in an on-line competition. In our interview Nichols talks about the photograph, taken at a gay pride event, and why he chose to enter it into this national competition.
