Live Nation’s latest bargain — a club pass

Now that it’s started selling its own tickets, concert promoter Live Nation has been having different no-fee, package and lawn deals all summer.

The latest is a $49.99 Live Nation Club Passport, which will get you into select club shows through the rest of the year.

Before you get too excited, the catch is that you’ll be limited to select shows (um, the ones with slower ticket sales) and have to e-mail each Monday to try to get on the lists. But still, two or three gigs and the passport’s paid for itself. (We’d jump on the Moby and Snow Patrol shows at the Wiltern.)

Let’s face it, if you live in New Orleans, the House of Blues in the Crescent City is pretty much the only practical option.

But if you live in Southern California, well, you’ve got the Avalon in LA; the Hollywood Palladium; the Wiltern; and the House of Blues in Anaheim, West Hollywood and San Diego.

Yeah, that means there will be more competition for those tickets. But if you’re on the ball (and get good gas mileage… and know the cheap places to park), it could be well worth it. It’s also a great chance to go check out bands you might not otherwise have bought a ticket to see.

Tickets go on sale Thursday; for details, click here.
