End-of-year speech by Pope attacks homosexuals


Pope Benedict says saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behavior is as important as protecting the environment.

Gay and transgender groups have expressed anger at his utterance, suggesting it could encourage hate against their communities. The leader of the Roman Catholic church made the comments in an end-of-year speech to Vatican staff.
